A great camping trip is all about bringing the comforts of home into nature. That means that you are going to want a cozy place to sleep, an easy way to prepare your favorite foods, and – of course – a reliable table to gather around.
When it comes to camping gear, I am a big believer in quality.
It is always worth the price to make your trip more comfortable and enjoyable. That is why I was so excited to receive the SmartFlip Bamboo picnic table from Beckworth & Co to review.
After a few trials, there are a lot of things I love about this picnic table – and a couple things I am not too crazy about.
Here is my full, honest review of the SmartFlip bamboo table, and why I think it could be a worthwhile investment for your next camping trip.
Features
The Smartflip is a portable, adjustable bamboo table meant to be taken on the go.
It could be a great replacement for that old plastic folding table you have been lugging around on all your camping trips.
When unfolded, the surface of the table measures 25.6 inches by 19.7 inches. The height is adjustable – it can be anywhere between 17 and 25.6 inches.
The adjustability can come in super handy, but it does mean that setting up the table requires a little more effort.

The portability of this table definitely sets it apart from other options. The whole thing is super lightweight – just over 10 pounds.
It folds down into a compact 23.6 inch by 6 inch by 4.3 inch size.
For reference, that is about the size of an acoustic guitar. It comes with a soft carrying case for easy packing.

We’re reviewing the standard size table, but this is not the only Beckworth & Co camping table out there.

The HalfFlip bamboo table is a smaller and even lighter version with the same bamboo surface.
It is also adjustable, but does not go as high as the SmartFlip.
On the other hand the Smartflip comes in a large size version as well: 31.5″ X 23.6″ X 17″/25.6″.
What’s included
With the Smartflip table, you also get the carrying case.
It is made out of durable nylon and has soft handles to carry easily from your car to your campsite.
Other accessories, like stools and a storage net, are compatible with the Smartflip, but they have to be purchased separately.
Ease of Use
Whenever I am reviewing a new product, one of the first things I try to look for is how easy it is to use. This is particularly important for camping gear – when you are on the go, an easy setup and takedown is crucial to make a product worth your time.
I was honestly impressed by the simplicity of the Smartflip table.
Even though it packs down to such a compact size, setting it up is quick and easy. It is also really simple to adjust the height of the table.
All in all, taking this table out of the bag and setting it up at your campsite should take you no longer than a minute or two.
Material
The surface of the SmartFlip table is made out of bamboo. Bamboo is lightweight, durable, and weather resistant – that is a big part of what makes this such a great table for outdoor use.
It also gives it a much more authentic look than other plastic or metal folding tables.The table legs are hollow aluminum.
There are pros and cons to this – aluminum is super light, but it also means that the table is not quite as sturdy as some other, heavier options.
Durability
Again, because it is so light, this table is lacking something in sturdiness.
It can hold nearly 70 pounds of weight, but it will definitely wobble a little bit while you are using it.
That can be expected with most camping tables, so it is worth it for the portability, in my opinion. I tried setting up the table and using it on a few different surfaces.
To combat the wobbliness, you will want to avoid gravel or uneven ground. Your best bet to keep this table stable is to use it on a flat area of hard-packed dirt or even pavement.
As far as long lasting quality, this is definitely a durable table.
The aluminum legs will resist corrosion, so it will hold up fine in any weather.
The bamboo surface is also weather-resistant – but it might have some problems with warping if exposed to too much heavy rain or direct sunlight over a long period of time.
That said, the bamboo is great at restricting scratches and nicks.
Size
In my opinion, the size of this table is part of what makes it so great. It is exactly big enough for a camping table – you can use it to cook, eat and hold supplies, but it is still small enough to pack away easily.
The size of the standard table is: 25.6″ x 19.7″ x 17″/25.6″
The adjustable height makes it a little more versatile than other camping tables.
At its lowest, it is perfect for holding a beer or marshmallow roasting supplies around the campfire.
At its highest, you can use it to prepare food or play cards.
My only complaint is that the table could be a little longer. It would be a little more awkward to carry, but a few more inches in length would allow more people to sit around it.
Final Thoughts
In the end, I think this is a great little table for a family camping trip. It is really light and super easy to set up, so it won’t be a pain to take on a quick weekend trip or even just an afternoon picnic.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to be comfortable while enjoying the outdoors.
On the other hand, for serious, long term camping, the table could be a little longer and more stable.
The wobbliness is definitely the biggest drawback, and it would get pretty annoying if you were using this is your only table for a long time.
All things considered, for the light weight and low price, this is a super high-quality product.
In addition, you could also consider purchasing the cargo storage net, which would be a very useful accessory.
